The (slow) elevator pitch:

Quite possibly the darkest of the Dark Arts we dabble in, Persuasion is also probably the artiest. It’s as much of a life skill as it is a business tool.

Persuasion isn’t about making people do things they don’t want to do. It’s neither coercion nor blackmail nor does it necessarily require baseball bats, gaffer tape or pliers.

Persuasion is the art of negotiating without making it fully known you're engaged in a negotiation. It’s about laying groundwork and creating the right conditions to change hearts and minds (or both). Taught by experienced, award-winning commercial creative practitioners who have previously sold their souls to help persuade the public to do and buy all manner of things.

Potentially Asked Questions:

Persuade me to learn “Persuasion”.

It’s not for us to persuade you to learn persuasion. However, the simple request to be persuaded to learn Persuasion indicates the existence of a lack of understanding, or at the very least, a deficit in understanding. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but we’re sure you already knew that.

I don’t know… it sounds a bit… dark artsy?

That’s more of a comment, but since it comes with a question mark we’ll accept it as a question. Yes, persuasive communication, is one of the Dark Arts of Advertising, but it has practical applications in day-to-day life and work-life. Think of this stream as your own special episode of Magicians’ Secrets Revealed.

What if I don’t have much use for being persuasive?

That may well be the case. However, learning how something like Persuasion is used in communication can still be a real benefit. You’ll learn the tricks others use when trying to get you do things against your will. It will also make it easier for you to spot when scammers are trying to scam you.

What outcomes will we, as a team, get from this?

As a bare minimum you’ll gain an understanding of the underlying principles and how to use them. Hopefully, this will pave the way for some revelations and personal epiphanies on the way to a reset towards a more inspired and persuasive workforce.

Who is this topic aimed at?

Any modern workplace containing people. If that sounds disconcertingly vague or unhelpfully broad, it’s an unfortunate reality of the current state of things. There’s a general collective fugue about the place at the moment, and We Have Ways to help shake it off. So, yes, this topic is aimed at everyone.

Hang on. Have you been persuading me this whole time?

Not at all. You’ve come to this conclusion entirely on your own, like only truly intelligent people do.
